Accessible Websites for Phoenix Small Businesses
Every website we build is built to WCAG 2.2 level AA and checked with automated tools before it goes live. That means people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or large text can still read your site and call you. It's part of the $599 build, not an extra.
What We Check Before Your Site Goes Live
- Color contrast that people with low vision can read.
- Keyboard use, with a visible outline showing where you are on the page.
- A label on every form field, so a screen reader can say what goes where.
- Text descriptions on images, so nothing important lives only in a picture.
- Motion you can stop, and respect for your phone's "reduce motion" setting.
A site has to score at least 95 out of 100 on Google Lighthouse's accessibility test before we launch it. Every client site gets its own accessibility statement, like ours.
What Are the ADA Requirements for Websites?
The ADA covers businesses that are open to the public, and the Justice Department's position is that this includes what they offer on the web. Its March 2022 guidance says businesses have flexibility in how they comply, and it points to existing standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), for how to make a site accessible.
So for a small business, the practical answer is to build to WCAG. We build to version 2.2, level AA.
Can I Be Sued If My Website Isn't Accessible?
Yes, businesses are sued over websites that people with disabilities can't use. Building your site to WCAG from the start and keeping it that way is a practical way to lower the risk, but no one can promise it away.
We don't use overlay widgets that sit on top of a site; we build the site itself to the standard. This page isn't legal advice. For a question about your business, talk to a lawyer.
How Can I Make My Website ADA Compliant?
Build it to WCAG 2.2 AA, test it, and fix what fails: missing image text, low-contrast colors, unlabeled form fields, headings out of order, and anything you can't reach with a keyboard. Free automated checkers find many of these problems, but not all of them.
We check every build with automated tools before launch. A certified accessibility audit, done by hand, goes further, and it's a separate job: we quote it before it costs you anything.
How Much Does It Cost to Make a Website Accessible?
It depends on how the site was built. Fixing an existing site can mean paying for an audit and then for the repairs. Building to the standard from the start leaves far less to fix.
With us, building to WCAG 2.2 AA and the automated check are included in the $599 build. A certified audit or repair work is quoted separately.
What We Don't Promise
- Legal compliance. Building to the standard and checking it is good practice, not a legal certification. We don't guarantee compliance with the ADA, WCAG or similar standards.
- A certified audit. It isn't included in the build; it's available as a quoted project.
