How Much Does It Cost to Pay Someone to Design a Website?
For a small business site, US designers publish build prices from about $350 to $5,000. Both ends of that range came from Arizona companies: $350 from a designer in Maricopa and $5,000 from an agency in Mesa whose price includes a logo and branding. The highest price we found for a plain five-page site was $3,800.
Some designers quote by the hour and others by the project or the package. Whichever you choose, ask for the price in writing, and ask what it includes.
What Does Website Design Cost in Phoenix?
Arizona designers who publish prices cover the whole range. Here's what five of them list on their own websites, which we read in September 2026:
- A designer in Maricopa: $350, plus $25 a month.
- An Arizona web designer: $499, waived with an annual plan.
- A Tempe agency: $499 for a one-page site, or $1,499 for up to five pages.
- A Mesa agency: from $1,249 for a custom Squarespace site, plus Squarespace's monthly plan.
- Another Mesa agency: from $5,000, including a logo and branding.
How Much Does a Website Cost Per Month?
Monthly care runs from about $25 to $750 a month at the 14 providers we read. The low end covers edits and support, and the top buys two hours of a webmaster's time. The closest thing to an all-in bundle, with hosting, the domain and changes together, ran $149 to $175 a month.
Whatever the number, check what it covers: hosting, the domain, security, backups, your changes, and your Google listing. A low monthly price that bills every change by the hour can cost more over a year.
What Makes a Website Cost More?
- How many pages it has, and whether each is written for you.
- Who writes the words and takes the photos: you, or the designer.
- Extras such as a logo and branding, online booking, a Spanish version or an online store.
- What's included afterward: hosting, the domain and later changes, or bills for each.
Is $1,500 a Good Price for a Website?
For a small business site built for you, $1,500 sits in the lower half of the $350 to $5,000 range US designers publish. Whether it's good depends on what comes with it: how many pages, who writes them, and what hosting, the domain and changes cost after launch.
Compare offers by the whole first year, not the build price alone. We answer the $1,000 question, and show our own first-year totals, on our pricing page.
The Costs People Forget
- The domain, which renews every year. Some builders include one free for the first year only.
- Hosting, which is monthly for as long as the site is up.
- Changes after launch. Some designers include them; others bill by the hour.
- Your time, if you build and update the site yourself.
What About Building It Yourself?
A website builder is the cheapest option in cash. Wix's Business plan runs about $36 to $40 a month, and its free domain lasts one year. You do the building, the writing, the photos and every update yourself.
